Where Dogs Fetch Some Fun
It’s a scientific fact: hanging out with dogs is good for your health and just plain makes life better. So, as a certified “Happy Place,” Brookhaven naturally has plenty of great spots for quality time with Spot.
Each spring, the local Puppy Haven hosts their “Party for the Paws” celebration benefitting the Atlanta Humane Society. Admission is free! The annual gathering includes food and beer vendors, music, a bounce house and refreshing doggy pools. There’s also an adoption event, just in case you want to add a new friend to the family.
Local parks offer year-round opportunities for exploration and mingling. Skyland Dog Park has two separate play areas for larger and smaller pooches, making all shapes and sizes feel right at home. And with 5 beautiful acres of fenced space, Brookhaven Park is the largest off-leash dog park in the perimeter.
Looking to get on the trail of a suspenseful “sniff mystery?” Do a little hiking in other parks such as Murphey Candler and Blackburn, where the woods are filled with exciting new scents. There are also green spaces with lots of room for running around. Just be mindful of leash laws wherever they apply.
After the case is closed, maybe it’s time to pamper your pup. Pup-n-Cuts Pet Salon & Boutique provides hip fur trimming and styling, along with a wide assortment of accessories to put a smile on your dog’s face.
And when it’s time to unwind, go enjoy a cold drink at one of the many local dog-friendly restaurants – such as Pure Taqueria, HOBNOB Neighborhood Tavern and Lucky’s Burger & Brew. These laid-back patio areas always roll out the red canine carpet.
