School is out and Summer is here! It’s time to find some fun activities to keep the family busy.
If you’re looking for some things to do as a family and hopefully keep the kids off their phones, check out these options here in Brookhaven.
Movies on the Town at Town Brookhaven
Movies on the Town is back this summer on Thursdays, June 2nd-July 21st with the usual break the week of July 4th (no movie July 7th). On the lineup this year: Encanto (6/2), Sing 2 (6/9), Clifford the Big Red Dog (6/16), Father of the Bride (6/23), Mean Girls (6/30), Cruella (7/14), and Jungle Cruise (7/21).
Brookhaven Bucks game
The Brookhaven Bucks are a wooden-bat collegiate summer team in the Sunbelt Baseball League. The season runs from early June through early August. The Brookhaven Bucks home games are played at Oglethorpe University
Food Truck Nights at Blackburn Park
Food Truck Nights are back at Blackburn! Join us on the last Wednesday of the month for live music, food trucks, and activities for the kids. Make sure to bring chairs, blankets, and anything else you might need to relax and enjoy the evening with family and friends! 2022 Schedule: April 27, May 25 > Postponed to June 1 due to rain!, June 29, July 27, August 31, September 28, and October 26.
Brookhaven Farmer’s Market
Every Saturday morning from 9am – noon, bring the kids to see what is happening at the Farmer’s Market. Local vendors with options like fresh produce, seafood, local honey, flowers, coffee, sweet treats, and more!
Wings of the City exhibit
On May 19, the “Wings of the City” exhibit officially landed in the City of Brookhaven to give residents a glimpse of Mexican culture through the universal eyes of art, as seen by world-renowned artist Jorge Marin.
“The sculptures included in ‘Wings of the City’ contain three of the premises of my creative process: balance, challenge, and introspection. I represent this with elements of universal iconography with which most of us identify, such as wings, spheres, or the human body,” expressed Marin, whose work has been on exhibit in more than 300 collective and individual exhibitions worldwide.
The mobile art exhibition is comprised of a collection of nine large scale bronze sculptures, that will be displayed in different locations around Brookhaven through April 2023. More info here.
